A landscape can have one cycle or multiple cycles. Historical features and their associated objects, artifacts and period relationships of value must be present and intact.
The integrity of a cultural landscape is determined by the degree to which the landscape features that defined its historical significance are still present. Because some features of the landscape (such as vegetation and uses) are dynamic, integrity depends on how clear the general character of historical time is, and the degree to which contrasting elements are reversible.

A poor site analysis can lead to a substandard design because the designer does not have all the available information to respond and resolve. You will not know much about the site.
Soft data refers to site conditions that are subject to change. Hard data looks at more concrete elements such as site boundaries, site area, job sites, shapes, dimensions, site features, climate, legal information. An initial site inspection should show hard data. From this, we can establish which elements we believe will have a negative impact on the site or the proposed design, and which conditions have a more positive impact. This allows us to create a hierarchy and allows for a more systematic approach to understanding our data and creating designs.

Before you go to the site, you can get a lot of information from the desktop study. By doing thorough research before visiting your site, you’ll be better informed, and you’ll likely know the specific things you want to see or look for when visiting your site.
It may be necessary to obtain a site OS map before you visit the site. From this and from the customer’s information you can clarify the location of the site boundaries.
Some information is not freely available, but the buyer or their legal representative should be able to clarify any issues related to rights of way, rights of way, legal easements and tenant rights.
