Biodegradable Technology In The Tourism Industry For Sustainable Tourism – According to UNESCO, sustainable development is meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Taking sustainable actions to ensure the survival of future generations is our shared social responsibility.
The hotel industry is an important part of the world’s tourism industry. Hotels around the world are investing in upgrading their infrastructure to ensure sustainability and protect natural resources.
Biodegradable Technology In The Tourism Industry For Sustainable Tourism
According to the Booking.com 2021 Sustainability Report, 73% of travelers are more likely to choose a hotel that practices sustainability. “Going green” has also become an effective marketing strategy to reflect social responsibility and build goodwill.
Do Environmental Knowledge And Green Trust Matter For Purchase Intention Of Eco Friendly Home Appliances? An Application Of Extended Theory Of Planned Behavior
The air quality index around us is decreasing every day. Air pollution is difficult to eliminate and it directly affects indoor air quality around the hospitality industry. The health impacts of air pollution are serious—increased rates of lung cancer can be attributed to air pollution.
Hotels should provide fresh air to their guests. ZenConnect uses wireless sensors to help monitor air quality and displays statistics on the ZenConnect dashboard. It allows hotels to control air purifiers to maintain a healthy atmosphere.
Hotels are among the buildings with the highest energy demands. Energy costs can be a significant part of a hotel’s operating budget, ranging from 15% to 35% depending on size and star rating. Energy-saving systems can achieve sustainable development in the hotel industry, reduce energy consumption, benefit the ecosystem, and reduce energy costs in the process.
How To Make Business Travel More Sustainable
Hotels have extensive HVAC systems, including air conditioners, refrigerators, chillers, etc., which consume large amounts of energy and add heat to the atmosphere. Monitoring the operating cycles of such equipment allows hotels to consume only the amount of energy actually needed and avoid any wastage. Changing energy consumption enables hotels to
Water is another natural resource used most by hotels. Hotels strive to make guests feel important, and unlimited access to water is considered a staple. With massive consumption comes a great responsibility to consume sparingly. Water is required in almost all aspects of a hotel, i.e. guest rooms and suites, swimming pools, kitchens, laundry, cleaning and gardening, etc.
ZenConnect can monitor a hotel’s water supply and consumption based on IoT sensors. It can display the consumption situation in each area of the hotel. This regular consumption statistics allows hotels to limit waste. Automatic control can also be used to set the supply volume according to actual needs. It helps hotel managers handle any maintenance requirements in the event of excessive consumption due to leaks or breakage.
Of The Best Sustainable Tourism Sights Worldwide
The hotel is always ready to welcome guests from all over the world. Hotels, like other luxury goods, must provide guests with the food they need at all times. To meet the needs of these customers, hotels must maintain the best quality of perishable food at all times. This requires them to run refrigerators and coolers at a certain temperature around the clock, otherwise stored food will rot faster. To reduce food waste and control energy consumption in chillers and cold rooms, ZenConnect can be the perfect solution. It enables IoT sensors to monitor the temperature inside food warehouses and maintain it at the desired level. It also calculates the amount of energy required based on the storage room’s operating trends and limits consumption accordingly.
In summary, there is no doubt that IoT-based solutions can transform the hospitality industry by increasing operational efficiency, improving customer experience, and saving on energy costs.
“While reducing consumption and costs, there is a sense of fulfilling social responsibility” – two advantages that cannot be ignored in the hotel industry.

In this study, we aimed to explore the perceptions of environmental stewardship representatives on the extent to which green hotel practices contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To achieve this goal, a questionnaire was developed and a survey was conducted among the heads of environmental functions of the hotels under investigation, who were selected through a convenience sampling method. The survey was conducted among 48 participants from four and five Green Star hotels, representing 63% of the Green Star certified hotels in Egypt. The findings revealed that the implementation of green hotel practices in four and five Green Star certified hotels contributed positively to the achievement of SDG 6, SDG 12, SDG 7 and SDG 13. The main motivation for adopting Green Star standards is the hotel’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The findings also show that, overall, there are statistically significant differences between four and five Green Star hotels across all sustainability goals considered. The main conclusion of this study is that hoteliers should appropriately integrate green hotel practices into their operational plans to achieve environmentally related sustainability goals.

Sustainable development is currently a major phenomenon in many fields, including the hotel industry, where it is an important issue for industrial development . Although several scientists have shown that the rapid development of the hotel industry has led to the degradation of the environment around the world, as hotels use large amounts of energy and water for heating, cooling and lighting, which has a negative impact on the environment, some hotels implement environmentally friendly policies. They do do this in particular, it helps protect the environment and hopefully improves the quality of human life [3, 4].
