Navigating Profitability Challenges In Rapidly Evolving Technology Sectors

Background: Recent literature indicates that warehouse management costs are a significant part of the company’s logistics costs. The warehouse requires classification, control and management of inventory and related information processing. Therefore, the implementation of efficient and fair warehouse management measures to achieve effective management and control equipment is a great way to easily adjust the supply and demand of storage equipment and reduce labor costs. There is a gap in understanding the benefits and barriers to the full adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies and decision support systems (DSS) in warehouse management. Methods: The current work applies a systematic literature review method to case studies to examine the documented barriers and benefits of using Industry 4.0 technologies in warehouse management. For analysis, benefits and barriers are ranked in order of importance using Pareto analysis based on frequency of occurrence. Results: Improved process efficiency, real-time data availability, competitive advantage and the ability to integrate digital business operations are the four most important benefits of implementing technology industry 4.0 and decision support systems in warehouse management. The major barriers to implementation are life cycle costs, physical/structural environment challenges, resource constraints, security risks and high energy consumption. Conclusion: Barriers to the implementation of Industry 4.0 technology are natural and prevent companies from getting the full benefits of Business 4.0 technology. Adequate financial support, knowledge and new skills are needed to ensure the implementation of Industry 4.0 in warehouse management.

Major Challenges In The Fintech Industry In 2023

The supply chain process is a complex business system that is prone to errors that can cost the organization a lot of money. 4.0 to manage the diversity of business transactions involved and the frequency of communication. The use of industry 4.0 technologies and decision support systems (DSS) enable the supply chain to streamline its processes. It increases customer satisfaction This will lead to increased benefits for the organization, with improved quality, shorter times, reduced risk of record keeping, and faster response times when making decisions [1, 3].

Supply chain operations require efficient information flow between multiple actors, such as manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, customers and distribution centers, as shown in Figure 1. Unlike the linear model typical of the supply chain, the application of Industry 4.0 technology improves direct information. Flow among all artists Information and maintenance of warehouse equipment in distribution centers require the use of advanced technology to increase efficiency. The routine tasks of order picking, delivery, inbound inventory processing, packaging and record keeping cannot be done by manual labor alone [4, 5]. Therefore, these warehouse management systems require high-quality equipment that can support information acquisition and processing. These are provided by Industry 4.0 technology.

Several literature review articles have looked at the application of Industry 4.0 technology. Among the relevant areas, artificial intelligence-based decision support systems (DSS) applied to construction project management and RFID technology in treatment is considered in [7, 8]. Other existing ideas focus on specific technologies. For example, the study in [9] looks at technological advances in the planning and decision-making control of autonomous mobile robots that can be applied to ‘the warehouse, while the study in [10] focuses on challenges and opportunities related to data quality. In typical Internet-of-things (IoT) applications, including warehouses The authors of [11] highlight the challenges and problems experienced in different industries and sectors related to artificial intelligence and discuss solutions to barriers to adoption.

Ideas from [4, 12, 13] are about the general application of Industry 4.0 technology for software. The analysis in [4] looks specifically at how IoT technology can be used to combat high cost and logistics efficiency. Ref. [12] considered the integration of radio frequency identification (RFID) and the integration of IoT technology into software. Their emphasis on evaluating the various functions of RFID [13] is typical of the use of industry 4.0 technologies in software, and the focus is on how these technologies can provide balance to different long-term factors.

Above the warehouse, Ref. [14, 15] warehousing technical challenges and Ref. [14] focuses exclusively on IoT, while [15] is limited to autonomous mobile robots used in material handling. Studies similar to this current work are included in [5, 16, 17]. Ref. [5] propose a smart warehouse concept of a cyber-physical system based on four technologies and study the shortcomings of conventional warehouses. However, no complete list of restrictions and benefits can be provided Ref. [16] link the challenges to the SDGs while focusing on future research directions

However, it is necessary to carefully analyze the benefits and limitations of Industry 4.0 in warehouse management. Due to the demanding and competitive situation of the business, warehousing organizations are evaluating and working to change their operations to adopt automation in order to expand and gain profit [18, 19]. For organizations on the path to implementing new technologies or new systems, improvements can be met with obstacles, resulting in new implementation failures. Based on the above analysis, this research conducts a systematic literature review of studies on recent applications of Industry 4.0 technology. Our analysis attempts to provide a Pareto-based prioritization of the most recently documented constraints and practical benefits of warehouse management. Therefore, this research aims to:

Why Digital Transformation Is Important For Your Business

The rest of the research paper is organized as follows: Section 2 presents the background Section 3 describes the systematic literature review method adopted Section 4 presents the analysis of the results, and the Section 5 discusses the findings to provide recommendations Finally, Section 6 summarizes the study to provide conclusions

This section provides an overview of various Industry 4.0 technologies and how they have been applied for warehouse management purposes and other related industries. The author of [6] states that “statistics show that the cost of warehouse management accounts for the majority of a company’s logistics costs”. It was also pointed out that logistics costs can be as high as in inefficient countries

It has a negative impact on the gross domestic product (GDP) and the entire production chain. Therefore, taking effective and appropriate measures to implement effective management and control of materials is a great way to control the supply and the demand for storage equipment and to reduce operating costs.

How Businesses Have Successfully Pivoted During The Pandemic

The relevant Industry 4.0 technologies can be classified into the following eight categories: (4) autonomous mobile robots, (5) blockchain, (6) cloud computing and (7) augmented reality.

A decision support system (DSS) is a technological tool used to analyze data using mathematical models to determine the data as important information that can help management in the process of strategic decisions. In [19], a DSS tool implemented in Excel is used to design warehouses using real data from European airports. DDS tools provide users with flexible warehouse design, making air cargo terminals responsive and efficient.
