Servant leadership is an ethical, positive and desirable style due to its relevance to organizational situations. Entrepreneurship is a key factor that can drive short- and long-term outcomes for organizations. This study examines the role of servant leaders and their impact on employee performance in an academic environment. In addition, the role of the mediator of faith is explained to illuminate its effects after the COVID-19 pandemic. As the academic sector rapidly transitions to an online format, this study highlights the role of leaders in fostering success for academic staff. This research examines trust and engagement as key elements in achieving positive employee outcomes in the context of sustainability psychology as a scientific domain. Through a standardized approach, 138 individual samples from various faculty members were collected and analyzed through SmartPLS. The result is a better role for leaders in engaging their staff. Also, the mediating role of trust in the leader was statistically significant, indicating their willingness to work in determining academic competition. These results may be useful for researchers (management and organizational psychology) and practitioners in the field of education.
Leadership is a source of organizations’ competitive advantages [1, 2], and their importance cannot be underestimated because the influence of leaders goes beyond their roles . It requires the firm to take actions that emphasize the leadership practices needed to strengthen the organization . Leaders can influence their behavior by creating a positive environment characterized by comfort and quality of life. Since the emergence of the global pandemic of COVID-19L, many organizations have to move their operations to digital platforms. This is particularly evident in the academic context, which is the focus of this study. The various changes in this industry (for example, the shift from traditional orders to online), similar to other industries with demand and workload, have clearly affected the well-being of employees. While this research examines the impact of leadership on employee outcomes, participation in online classes and/or meetings is specifically focused on work. Work engagement has been linked to several work outcomes, such as job satisfaction, turnover intentions, well-being, extracurricular activities, and performance [2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]. In this study, it was hypothesized that increased work conditions (i.e., academic training) through increased confidence can significantly improve the psychological well-being of individuals in the workplace. This is part of the concept of persistent psychology (ie, long-term effects). In other words, an appropriate leadership style can have long-term positive effects on the behavior of academic staff, as trust is enhanced, and leaders’ overall sense of security for employees is emphasized.
